The good news is that Gumbo Limbo, the injured turtles hospital and display has re-opened in Boca Raton, Florida, after bring closed for 16 months. It was wonderful to see it again, although painful to see the turtles that were missing a limb due to contact with boat propellers. The bad news is that injury and disease is growing in numbers In particular, green turtles, the vegetarians of the sea turtle world, are getting cancer from the chemicals introduced by water runoff from the land. And if that weren't enough, they are finding many turtles that cannot digest since their stomachers are filled with microplastic. Man can effect the environment in may ways,, with all of them bad, so far. How terrible we have treated this earth and its inhabitants. Makes you want to crawl into your shell.
