I have been as pessimistic as most on here regarding the disaster this year has been for BC FB; given the season we have had on the field, the bleak OOC scheduling, the impending player departures, and the lack of any progress on the indoor practice facility.
I am trying to reconcile all of this with eagles28's optimism and inferences that good news is coming on the facilities front.
The only thing I can surmise is that the current state of the Program has reached a breaking point with some of the big donors. The shocking and embarrassing results this season, the two FCS games this year, the impending announcement of a lousy OOC schedule next year, and, most significantly, the news that area CFB programs significantly below BC's level will have better practice facilities than BC, has to be absolutely unacceptable to these donors (like it is to most of us here).
Given all of this, BB must be starting to feel the heat. I am sure even he knows how despondent the BC fan base is right now, and announcing an OOC schedule at the same time they are mailing out season ticket applications is probably not the best timing. I would guess they will have to have some positive news/reason for hope amidst all the many valid reasons for despair.
In the end, this is probably the best time to make such an announcement. If BC fails to make it (and with the news that construction begins immediately, not in 2018!), then, IMO, it confirms what many of us believe is an absolute level of cluelessness that does not bode well for the future.
I realize all of this is speculation, but, IMO, there is a certain logic to it.
Just my 2 cents.
