Offensive thoughts

As I type this I think to myself that these thoughts are offensive given my continued blind faith in a program that has continued to disappoint over the past few years, albeit with a splash of excitement every so often. My thoughts, and speculation, regarding a lack of announcement related to staffing after the horrid offensive performance this year is somewhat simple. Given addazios admitted control, read suffocation, of the offense and an announced switch to a more pro style approach with the assumed continuation of staffing, I want to believe that addazio was given instruction to release full control over the offense to Fitch. My understanding of Fitch is that he is of a different mindset than addazio in that he comes from a pro-style balanced attack background. The offensive transition is the basis for my belief. I have no source to say this is right. Frankly, if true, I do not know if it will have any effect. I am just hoping for change where I see no other signs.

Unlike some, I haven't lost complete faith in addazio because he has proven that his teams can compete. We may not always win, but we usually put up a fight. He doesn't appear to be an Xs and Os guy by any stretch of the imagination, but he doesn't need that to have success as a head coach. He appears publicly as a good leader and motivator. Yes there are questions raised by recent transfers, but as the transfers all came from he offensive side of the ball I want to believe that simply resulted from his hands on nature and micromanagement of the offense.

If my assumption is correct, maybe we see some light for next year, but I don't see a reliable passing qb on our roster. Wade was ok, but his sampling was limited, flutie showed an arm on occasion but also some poor decision making, smith was inaccurate, and fadule didn't show tremendous arm strength. With Brown in the mix, I hope that competition will help drive development in a pro- style system, but our qbs have a long way to go.
