I'm supposed to speak with Tate Haynes here in a little bit, but in the meantime we'll have a little introduction here.

Yesterday Boston College became the first school to offer Haynes, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound dual-threat from San Diego (Calif.) Cathedral Catholic.

He's obviously not the biggest guy but his Hudl profile advertises him as a guy with a 4.6-second 40-yard dash time. He's more a dual-threat than some of the other players BC has offered lately, but he's not exactly a run-first guy who's unpolished as a passer.

I've attached Haynes' film here at the bottom of this post. Couple of things stand out. Number one, he's got a pretty wide stance when he's throwing the ball and will probably have room to improve some mechanics. But he looks like he throws a really pretty ball and puts enough heat on it to make all the throws Scot Loeffler would ask him to make.

He runs an offense that puts him in multiple formations so he's not just a spread guy who's making easy throws or improvising. But, I was also impressed with his quickness and footwork in the pocket. He's not exactly an ideal candidate to run the inside zone read but because he's really quick he's able to do it pretty effectively.
