Two weeks out from camp roughly, and I'm interested to see which player for each class you are most anticipating seeing (reading about/progression/etc) at camp.
OFFENSE
DEFENSE
OFFENSE
- Freshman: Ben Glines (R-FR). An improved offense needs a reliable receiver the QB can trust to catch the ball when he puts it near him. Glines generated some buzz before his injury last year and looked good in spring practices, and could be that WR. (Alt: Borgersen)
- Sophomore: Mike Walker. If he can bring some of that return speed to the WR position, it will be a big boost to the skill position speed. Even in a KR role only he was impacting games and I look forward to him being incorporated further into the offense.
- Junior: Jon Baker. It's no secret we need a beefed up, more capable OL than last year. As the center, Baker will be right in the middle of that turnaround (pun intended?).
- Senior: Myles Willis. He has shown he has the physical tools in flashes, and appears to be a very good off the field leader. I'd love to see him break out and serve as an outside the tackles complement to Hillliman.
- GS/5th Yr: Patrick Towles. This is probably an easy one. As the likely/potential starting QB, I'd like to see how much he is starting to fit in to the offense and build rapport with the RB/WR/TEs.
DEFENSE
- Freshman: Ethan Tucky. This guy brings even more speed to the defense. He's had an extra semester/summer to get involved and bigger. BC looks pretty solid at LB right now, but if Tucky shows his 4* (at one point at least) tools, he may work his way in to certain blitz packages.
- Sophomore: Zach Allen. He looked like a monster on the field in his HS film and is even bigger now. JR predicted good things when he committed. This could be the year he shows that potential.
- Junior: Kam Moore. There are several options in this class, but Moore was looking like he could match up with most ACC WRs until his injury. I want to see if he picks up where he left off coming off that injury.
- Senior: John Johnson. An attacking defense needs multiple man coverage capable players to be able to blitz and create havoc. this could end up being one of the strongest DB corps at BC that I've ever seen, and Johnson continuing to improve is critical to that
- GS/5th Yr: Satchel Ziffer. OK, so there aren't really any other options on D at this level; nonetheless, BC will still be punting a solid amount even if the offense is improved, and Alex Howell was actually very effective at the position...If Ziffer can fill in at the same level, it would be very significant for those inevitable field position battles.
