I'm told the staff feels like he can fill one role they're looking for to perfection. AJ Dillon, as a local kid, is still at the top of the Eagles' recruiting board for the 2017 class. Dillon's a smart kid and knows that he wouldn't be the only running back Boston College brings in for this class. The staff will make sure Dillon knows it was a necessity.
Source today told me that Travis Levy would complement Dillon well, as a bit more of a speed guy to Dillon's power and size. Levy's got solid size in his own right at 6-feet, 195 pounds.
The staff reportedly likes Levy on film and a person told me today, "He's got the speed we're missing. We'd love to have him with (Dillon)."
Levy is still likely to camp with BC. That's just something they like their commitments to do under normal circumstances. The staff just likes to see guys compete in person, and that willingness to compete is on full display when someone already locked into a commitment spot travels to camp anyways. That level of commitment also demonstrates the player is likely to hold through Signing Day.
"He's a good, humble kid," I was told, re: Levy.
I've heard he's got about a 3.2 grade point average and the staff thinks he'll be a good fit in the program and on campus.
It's possible they could take three running backs but two is the plan right now.
People around the program are very happy Rich Gunnell wasted no time in landing a player from Maryland, a state that's historically proven difficult for BC to tap into.
