When four-star West Roxbury (Mass.) Catholic Memorial defensive end Boubacar Traore de-committed from Boston College in March, head coach Jeff Hafley and his Eagles staff didn't give up.
Not even when Traore committed to Holy War rival Notre Dame in late April.
BC kept pushing for the fourth-highest rated recruit in the state. And it resulted in the Notre Dame commit taking an official visit to Chestnut Hill this weekend.
It went very well, sources told Eagle Action Sunday.
Traore's April commitment to Notre Dame followed a two-day visit to South Bend. The 6-foot-4, 254-pounder was one of three Class of 2023 Catholic Memorial prospects who committed to BC—their backyard Power Five program—years ago. In fact, Traore pledged to the Eagles back on Aug. 5, 2020.
This spring, however, things changed for Traore, who is now rated as the 23rd-best weakside defensive end in the country and the No. 227 overall prospect in the Class of 2023, according to Rivals.com. Traore currently boasts a 5.8 Rivals Rating.
In committing to Notre Dame, Traore committed to new Fighting Irish defensive line coach Al Washington, a former BC defensive tackle (2002-05) and assistant (2012-16).
Traore's older brother, Badara, stands 6-foot-7, 320 pounds and plays offensive line for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Boubacar has the potential to be an effective hybrid edge defender at the college level.
