Lots of fun being amateur architects and campus planners, assuming the pros are dunces, and dismissing real problems in proceeding with the Plan. I'm serious. I am one of the critics (the museum.)
The water pipes discussion on the Board here helped me recall hearing a discussion of that issue at a presentation of The Master Plan, I would have said was about 10 years ago. So, I looked around and found a file with major disclosures of the Plan, including
> A 12/05/2007 letter to "Members of the Boston College Community" from Fr. Leahy announcing the submission of an $800 million campus and construction Plan to the Boston RDC.
> Two related press releases and campus maps.
> A three page summary of the construction specifics (including the relocation of the museum to the Brighton campus, I think to different site.)
> A four page Special Supplement to The Boston College Chronicle with 8 renderings of the campus and of specific buildings.
I also recall asking if BC could get ownership of (a) BeerCan Hill and (b) the Evergreen Cemetery, two parcels that would solidify/unite the Main and Brighton Campuses. To my disappointment, the CRUCIAL importance of the pipes to the Boston water supply made (a) unlikely (I think the pipes are under BeerCan Hill) and (b) was characterized as roughly "never ever going to happen; forget it."
So, major disclosures in 2007. Plan was submitted to the governments. Much of the activity since then is in line with the Plan.
