Here is a thought on why Brown left

By my quick count Brown has worked 13 years at state schools. He would have been classified as a state employee and contributed to the state retirement systems. If Michigan is like Massachusetts and most states he can transfer the amount he has contributed to the other retirement systems in to the Michigan system and be eligible for retirement under the state of Michigan pension plan. Most states base their pension numbers on a percentage of the retirees highest 3 consecutive years. If he works 5 seasons at Michigan at a average of 800K a year he could be eligible for a pension of about 40% of the 800K or 320K/year. I've done work with state retirees and I believe my numbers are accurate. If they are it's a no brainer for Brown.
