Was at a xmas party last night and was talking to a friend who is a large donor. He has lunch/dinner 2-3 times a year with Fr. Leahy. He reiterated what many posters on here have said. Nothing is changing as far as the commitment to football and basketball as long as he is in charge. He just sees the relevance of sports differently than the rest of us. As he said to me: "Fr. Leahy and I 'agree to disagree' on the importance of college athletics..." Should come as little surprise to many on this board, but it still felt like a kick in the n*ts when hearing it. I asked when Leahy will retire and all he would say is "soon". He also reiterated that the curent BOT is part of the problem as well. They are basically in agreement with Leahy for the most part. Not sure what that means as far as what we can expect from the next president and where his priorities will lie, but I'm not overly optimistic. Thought this convo would be interesting to share with the board.
