For the First Time As a Life-Long BC Fan, I Am Embarrassed

I have been a passionate follower of BC football since college (78 grad). In the last 35 years, as a season ticket holder, I have seldom missed home games. For the last 9 years, I have traveled up from Hunt Valley, MD to games, and have seldom missed a home game during this time.

Over the years, I have seen the highs and lows, the glorious wins and crushing defeats. I went through the Chlebek disaster in 1978, the gambling fiasco in 1996, and the Spaz-era descent of the program. All this said, I have NEVER seen a game so poorly played AND so ineptly coached on the offensive side as the one I saw today.

Where to begin! The offense is non existent; but BC has one of the best D's in CFB. They know they have a horrible kicking game, yet on two straight occasions, they forced a very weak kicker to kick from the hash marks. Had he kicked both straight on, they would likely have been good and BC wins.

The crazy QB subbing hurt both QBs IMHO. Damn it! Pick a QB and stay with him; give him a chance to get into a rhythm.

The play calling at the end of the game was perhaps the worst I have ever seen watching BC football. You have the ball with under 30 seconds on the 1 yard line, no time outs, and you call RUNNING plays?? Up the middle!!!?? WTF!!!!!!!! You could have had two pass plays into the end zone, then a field goal, from the middle of the field to tie if the passes were incomplete.

Finally, I get they have a lot of young players on offense, but HOW can this unit as a whole be this bad. My God, it is not inconceivable that we don't score a single point the rest of the year! IMO, one has to look at the coaching. Even during the Spaz debacles we would get at least a TD or two, or a TD and FG, in most games, no matter who we played

When I left the stadium today, and for the first time as a BC fan, I felt embarrassed! I was frustrated and upset, to be sure, but the poor play on the field and the incomprehensible coaching left me embarrassed for the program and the alma mater I hold so dear. (Important point: this critique does NOT include Don Brown and the defensive coaches who over the last three years have systematically built one of the best D's in CFB.)

I have to seriously consider whether it is worth coming up from MD for the last two home games to see this kind of sh*t show. It's not that they are losing, it's the imbecilic ways they are losing, coupled with the knowledge that BC is squandering its best defense in a generation.

FWIW, I would have a lot of respect for Daz if he announced that he was donating the appropriate portion of his salary related to the game prep and coaching for the WF game to his favorite charity.
