Boston College has reeled in a total of 10 defensive linemen in its last two recruiting classes. And the Eagles won't be slowing down any time soon.
"We're always going to bring in a lot of D-Linemen," head coach Jeff Hafley said earlier this spring.
Ten days after Jordan Mayer—a 6-foot-5, 235-pounder from Jefferson Hills (Pa.) Thomas Jefferson—committed to the Eagles, they got another strongside defensive end: Brian Simms III.
Simms, a three-star Class of 2023 prospect from St. Frances in Baltimore (Md.), announced his decision Wednesday afternoon.
The 6-foot-4, 240-pound lineman also had offers from Bowling Green, Buffalo, Ole Miss, Penn State, Toledo and West Virginia.
"Simms is a big, athletic and tough defensive lineman with a very high ceiling," National Recruiting Analyst/Rankings Director Adam Friedman said.
"He has great agility and quickness for a player his size, and he has very strong hands. He is a little bit raw when it comes to his technique, but there is a lot of ability there, and he seems very coachable, so the Boston College coaches should be able to mold him into the player that they need him to be."
Simms is the sixth BC commit of the 2023 cycle.
