Holden Symonds is staying local. The Governor's Academy (Melrose, Massachusetts) Class of 2023 athlete committed to Boston College Tuesday night.

BC is betting on Symonds' athleticism, of which he has plenty. Symonds stands 6-foot-6, 241 pounds. But he has never played a season of organized high school football.

His time at Governor's Academy has been, to this point, defined by his performance on the basketball court. Symonds is a forward who can score at all three levels. He's got great burst, a nice stroke from outside and isn't afraid to attack the rim. In addition to playing for Governor's Academy, he's also part of the AAU squad Middlesex Magic.

Symonds will play football for Governor's Academy this coming season. His older brother, Jay, played fullback for Stanford each of the past four years.

Symonds is currently training to play tight end/defensive end. His build lends itself well to those positions, particularly offensively, where he can maximize his vertical.

Symonds is BC's eighth scholarship commit in its 2023 recruiting class, which currently ranks 33rd nationally and sixth in the ACC.

He has yet to receive a Rivals Rating but also had offers from Buffalo, Dartmouth, UMass, Old Dominion and Princeton.

BC brought in a pair of tight ends during the 2022 cycle: Jeremiah Franklin and Matt Ragan, both three-star prospects.
