Currently have 84 players on scholarship. 17 players will be in this graduating class leaving 18 total to be open next year (assuming they either keep the last one open all year or give it to a 5th year transfer or walk on who is in his final season at BC).
Regarding the 85th player this season I'm hearing that the desire is still there to take a 5th year OL transfer and that they have some in mind but can't speak about them until they officially graduate and also they can't initiate any conversation with the player, the player has to approach them first before any discussions about a possible transfer can take place.
In getting back to the potential total scholarship amount this season we've been hearing that it will be around 15 tops. I would have to assume that means that they will then bank those scholarships for 2017 class which is even potentially smaller and currently would only consist of 11 players and that total is before you consider any redshirts that could be invited back such as Malachi Moore, Bobby Wolford, Frank Taylor, Jim Cashman and Mike Strizak, all of whom are currently projected to be on the 2 deep this season meaning you run the risk of having a class size that is even as low as 6 total people (won't happen but you get my point) in which case you basically punt that year in recruiting and run the risk of having the same problem every 4 years for your program. Note: The RS players I listed above would allow you to increase the 2016 class size if you did not invite them back but would lower the total number graduating for 2017.
