Anthony Brown represented BC on the big stage this summer and the New Jersey quarterback says his experience was a big boost to his confidence.
Brown believes he rises to the occasion against great competition.
Brown has always been confident in his abilities, but his performance at the Elite 11 quarterback camp early in the summer gave him more confidence than ever.
"It was amazing, honestly," the 6-foot-2, 196-pound prospect from the Garden State told EagleAction.com this week, just as he starts to shift gears and prepare for his senior season. "Because from where I started I honestly never would have thought I would have made it to where I did."
That means more than just his commitment to Boston College. It's a reference to his climbing stock in the recruiting world and the fact that the opinion of many observers, regarding his game and long-term forecast, seems to have improved.
"When I was there I was told that I have a nice release and my footwork was good. They thought I was smooth," the three-star signal-caller said. "It seems like when I did the drills that it was easy for me.
"It was good for my confidence and it helped me to see that when I'm being pushed by great competition then I do my best," he said.
BC's coaches from Steve Addazio and Todd Fitch on down made it clear that they were following Brown's performance at the event. They voiced their support and their satisfaction with how far he's come as a quarterback.
With the season fast approaching Brown doesn't have time to rest on his laurels and reflect on the events of the summer. It's full speed ahead.
Brown said he's leaning towards enrolling at Boston College next summer, which means he's unlikely to be in a semester early.
