I , for one, would have loved to have hosted the In-State Rival Minutemen .

BC scheduling mistake?by Mark • March 5, 2015
Boston College officials made a tactical error when a football scheduling issue developed for next season, which left the Eagles needing a game to fill out their schedule.
When New Mexico State, which had signed a home and home series with the Eagles bought its way out of its commitment for a return visit to Alumni Stadium next fall, BC athletic director Brad Bates had to scramble for a replacement.
He came up with an FCS opponent in Howard University. Normally that would not be a big issue. But the Eagles already had scheduled another FCS opponent, Maine.
Here's the problem. NCAA rules state that any FBS team can only count 1 victory against an FCS opponent towards its minimum number of victories (6) for bowl eligibility.
Thus a win over Howard will have no meaning in terms of bowl eligibility for BC, which might need all of its wins to reach the 6 win minimum next season.
If the Eagles finish with a 6-6 record, with expected wins over Maine and Howard, their official victory total will only be 5 in the eyes of the NCAA, which will not make them eligible for a bowl game.
The mistake that Bates and BC made was in not working out a deal to add to UMass to the Eagles schedule. Sources at UMass said that UMass coach Mark Whipple would have gladly scheduled the Eagles for a season-opening game at Alumni Stadium next season.
Although the Minutemen had a full 12-game schedule, sources at UMass said that the Minutemen would have bought out their home game against Florida International next season to schedule the Eagles.
