Jayson Tudryn, BC's Director of Football Recruiting, attended a Springfield Central High School football showcase which included Jareth Staine, currently an 8th grader, who will attend SCHS in the fall. Staine was so impressive that Tudryn offered Staine a full scholarship to attend BC. This is Staine’s first offer, but there will be plenty more to come. SCHS is the alma mater of BC’s Josiah and Joe Griffin. The SCHS Golden Eagles to BC Eagles pipeline sounds very promising. Here is one of the articles from Mass Live:

Springfield Central hosts football showcase for players

SPRINGFIELD — Over 30 college football coaches were at Springfield Central on Monday night for a workout and showcase event for Golden Eagle players.
Springfield Central players used the event to show off their skills and make connections with college coaches before a busy summer of performance camps kicks off next month.
The showcase was held for the first time at Springfield Central in 2022, and Golden Eagles coach Bill Watson hopes it becomes an annual event.
“It’s a phenomenal opportunity for the kids to have these coaches here watching them go through their routine,” Watson said. “It has been a very productive thing. A lot of kids have came out of here with offers last year. And not just that, a lot of communication (is done) for an offer maybe down the road.”
The showcase was part of a series of workouts for high school football players in Western Massachusetts and the surrounding region. In addition to Springfield, college coaches stopped at Suffield Academy in Connecticut for a similar event and will be at Deerfield Academy and Williston Northampton in the coming days. Springfield Central is the only public school on the list of stops.
The list of college programs that were represented at the showcase on Monday is long:
Virginia Tech, Lafayette, New Hampshire, Sacred Heart, American International College, Colby, Western New England, Trinity, Bryant, UMASS, Assumption, Fordham, Princeton, Holy Cross, Charlotte, Syracuse, Penn State, Columbia, Delaware, Monmouth, Colgate, UConn, Bentley, Lehigh and Dartmouth.
Eighth grader and incoming Springfield Central freshman quarterback Jareth Staine received a scholarship offer from Boston College after his workout during the showcase on Monday night. He was also personally invited by Virginia Tech offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen to a Hokies one-day camp that is being held in Blacksburg later this summer.
Golden Eagle defensive backs Jaylon Hebert and Noah Carter also received scholarship offers from Wagner.
Many of the players in attendance on Monday will also compete in front of college coaches at the Best of New England camp at Springfield College on June 16.
Having a showcase in mid-May, before big showcases like B.O.N.E in June, gives college coaches an opportunity to form relationships with players before the summer kicks off.
“When (players) go to the one-day camps, coaches will already be familiar,” Watson said. “When they go to the one-day camps, there will be coaches meeting them at the gate because they already know them. … The kids work extremely hard and they deserve this. We want to continue to be a part of it. It’s a big day for us.”

SPRINGFIELD — Over 20 college football coaches from across the country stood in the middle of the turf at Berte Field in Springfield on Monday and watched incoming Springfield Central quarterback Jareth Staine throw the ball.
The eighth grader threw in-routes, out-routes and deep balls, all with pin-point accuracy to some of his future Golden Eagle teammates.
While Staine’s deep passes flew threw the air, the collection of college coaches stood with their phones out, texting and making calls to communicate what they were seeing.
Staine put on a show and impressed the people in attendance, especially Jason Tudryn, the Director of Football recruiting at Boston College.
Tudryn pulled Staine aside after his workout to let him know that Boston College is offering him a full scholarship.
The scholarship offer is Staine’s first.
“It feels good,” Staine said about the offer. “But I still have to improve and get better. I still have four more years before I get to college.”
The coaching staff at Boston College has become well-acquainted with Springfield Central in recent years. Former Golden Eagle stars, brothers Josiah and Joe Griffin, currently play football for the school.
Tudryn told Staine after the workout that he was impressed with the eighth grader’s deep ball and consistency.
“He feels like I can grow over the years,” Staine said.
Staine came into Monday night motivated to get a scholarship offer, but also to have fun.
Former Springfield Central stars and his future teammates helped keep it light for the eighth grader, cheering him on after every accurate deep ball.
Former Golden Eagles star and Virginia Tech freshman QB Will Watson III was in attendance for the workout and gave Staine words of encouragement and coaching throughout the night.
Watson has been a mentor for Staine since he was 10 years old.
“He’s been a big brother,” Staine said. “He’s had me under his wing and I’ve been following his footsteps.”
Springfield Central coach Bill Watson wants to see what Staine looks like in pads throwing the ball against the Golden Eagles’ first-team defense before he names Staine as the starting quarterback, but so far, he likes what he has seen.
“He’s played a lot of football and been in a lot of wars,” Watson said. “He’s battle-tested, poised and confident. … He’s a leader. He’s used to winning and knows what it takes to win. I like his size and athleticism. He has good length right now. He is all arms and legs … but he has gained a lot of weight. He has muscles popping out now. He is a good kid. … We are excited to get him here (at Springfield Central).”
The next time Staine will throw the ball in front of college coaches will be at the Best of New England camp at Springfield College on June 16.
Staine is feeling good heading into the showcase next month.
“I just want to get more offers and keep working,” he said.
