My son-in-law is the head football coach at Middletown South High School in Middletown NJ along the Jersey Shore. Last night they scrimmaged St. John Vianney where Anthony Brown is QB. The feedback I got from SIL was that it was a great scrimmage, SJV is a little confused playing under a brand new coach, but that they have some real studs and Brown is the best of them. Said he is absolutely a D1 QB; very poised and confident and throws the ball effortlessly. Obviously, Anthony did not transfer schools as someone speculated a month ago. SJV is in Holmdel, NJ next to Middletown and also near the shore. AB's parents are divorced, one living in Matawan and the other in Tinton Falls, each about 10 minutes from Holmdel. He splits time between the homes. For him to go to Bosco or Bergen or St. Peters would be about a 60 mile trip each way and according to my SIL, unless he actually moved he would be subject to a 30 day suspension period before he could play, assuming the State determined the transfer was for athletic purposes. Obviously there are ways to beat the system but I assume it is a moot point since he was playing for SJV last night.
