Burton put up huge numbers as a junior.
Jordan McAfee
, of Everett, is the in-state 2017 quarterback with an offer from the Eagles. But Burton could be nipping at his heels, and seems to be one of the few quarterbacks beyond McAfee that offensive coordinator Todd Fitch will be closely evaluating in the months ahead, especially once his season begins.

In the last month or so Burton has visited Boston College three times, as he has made a concerted effort to better acquaint himself with the program.

"I've definitely been up there plenty of times," Burton toldEagleAction.com. "Three times recently, I want to say, just for practice and watching scrimmages on the sideline. Just kind of seeing what they do and watching the practice. It's been really great, being a part of that for the last month or two."

Burton attended and participated in a one-day camp at Boston College.

"It was a blast," he said. "I talked to Coach (Steve) Addazio after (the camp), which was great. I felt like it went really well."

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound pro-style quarterback got some good feedback from the coaching staff.

"He said he liked what I did at the camp," Burton explained. "He liked the leadership he saw. He said he's going to see a couple of games (on film) and then go from there. I haven't really talked that much with the coaches but I like what I know. I like their offense. I think it's fun to watch and would definitely be fun to be a part of.

"Obviously it's a great academic school. The campus is beautiful. I toured around a little bit. I live like five minutes from there so it's great to see it every now and then," he added.

Burton passed for 3,300 yards and 39 touchdowns last year and he has an offer from UMass, to go along with interest from Michigan and Northwestern.
