Boston College lands commitment from Top 01 Patrick Moynihan

"That said, Moynihan’s commitment is big in that BC win a commitment from someone who had a ton of interest, and also because it could swing some more recruiting momentum. Where the last few years have been monopolized by a recruiting frenzy by the Terriers, the Eagles are officially on a tear of their own this fall. Last fall saw the Eagles keeping up with some serious talent at forward in TJ Walsh and Jake Tortora, this year the Eagles have secured commitments from a top-flight goaltender in Spencer Knight (2001), another big, NTDP talent at forward in California native Joey Cassetti, and 2000-born defenseman Adam Samuelsson, son of Ulf and brother of Philip, who spent two years at BC. Earlier, in August, the Eagles swooped in on tall, athletic forward Patrick Giles out of Maryland, who had caught the eye of a lot of scouts and, despite a long, wiry frame for his age showed he can keep up with players from more traditional hockey areas at the World Selects Invite and Select 15s just weeks prior to his commitment. Whether the Eagles decide to focus attention on more 2001-born talents, like east coast natives and Shattuck-St. Mary’s stand-outs Robert Mastrosimone and Braden Doyle, or a 2000 such as recent UNH decommit Joel Farabee, if they continue on this tear, Moynihan’s commitment will have proved to be another in a growing chain of key recruits landed."
