Just a few more nuggets I've heard through the grapevine close to the BC program:
Recent commit Ben Stewart is a guy that the staff really likes. Worth repeating. They are very, very pleased with how their early 2017 class is materializing. They really like the guys they've got and feel like they're off to a good start. Honestly, I am a bit surprised they have the guys they have, quality-wise, because a few weeks/months ago it didn't seem like they had brought a ton of visitors (2017) in early in the process. They are making up a lot of ground and the belief is the new coaches have been a shot in the arm.
They are also being a lot more selective/targeted in their approach to going after kids. Not wasting time with a lot of kids they probably don't have much of a chance with.
Stewart is probably 5'10, 190-195 pounds. If there are questions about his speed, they're not coming from folks at BC. They will point out that some other guys who have been very successful ran a 4.8 coming out of high school. The staff believes Stewart has the fundamentals to cover, although he's mostly been a 100 MPH, in-the-box tackling/physical defender thus far.
Four-star RB AJ Dillon did not include BC on his list of favorites recently. There is some frustration over that, but when I asked a source whether they're going to cut bait and move on to the next guy the answer was, unequivocally, no. They're going to stay in the running for Dillon and that won't change.
Asked about where BC stands with big Connecticut linebacker Ben Mason and the answer was they feel great. He has visited several times now. I think he's going to visit schools like Notre Dame and Michigan to find out whether they might be willing to offer. They will probably be impressed with his size, but I'm not sure if he is fast enough for schools like that. If those schools don't offer I wouldn't be surprised if he commits to BC shortly thereafter. Really good player and would be a great fit.
