Why is NE basketball so rich in talent—and football not?

Will someone please explain. I assume that while much NE Prep School talent is from around the country, it is still home-grown talent that makes the recruiting field here so rich.

Is it the weather? Will accept this for hockey, but not BB. Is it the coaching? Why so? Is it the cost? Five starters vs. eleven, and 15 or so players vs 40 or so. Plus stadium vs. arena upkeep.

Or is it tradition? It's just always been. But if so, why? Anyone have any ideas?
