Maybe it tells you a bit about what everyone else thinks about this year's Eagles. Thatcher Demko was the only home team nominee when the 20 candidates were named yesterday for this season's Walter Brown Award, given to the best American-born college hockey player in New England. BC players have won this award six times this century (Gaudreau, S. Whitney, Muse, Gionta, Collins and Mottau), seven if you include assistant coach Mike Ayers, who won it in 2003 at UNH. On the weekly front, a BC player has only won a weekly award from Hockey East twice so far this season- Adam Gilmour as player-of-the-week and Teddy Doherty as defensive-player-of-the-week.
